This is a course designed for adults who are seeking an intellectual, physical and energetic approach to cardiovascular health and expanding their capacity for joy.  For yoga instructors, this is an opportunity to explore two Classical Buddhist texts on the heart and learn an approach to meditation and the practice of asana that will enhance their teaching, regardless of style or level of experience.

The entire course is online and students will have six-months to access all of the materials.  Curriculum includes:

·         Reading and discussion of five Classical Buddhist texts in translation

·         Hatha Yoga: gentle physical yoga practices for heart health, stress reduction and happiness

·         Guided meditation instruction

·         Poetry and inspirational readings

·         Energetic and embodied anatomy of the heart

·         Heart Chakra activation techniques

·         Stress, anxiety and panic management and reduction techniques

Interaction and Communication

The online course offers discussion boards that are monitored by Sharon on a daily basis during the course.  Participants are encouraged to use these discussion boards to ask questions, to make comments and to reflect on the readings and their experiences of the practices.


Private Sessions and Personal Communication with Sharon

Sharon offers a discounted package of three phone or SKYPE sessions for course participants to discuss practices that would be of specific help to you individually, to answer more personal questions or to provide individualized instruction or mentoring in yoga, meditation or visualization.  Usually $300, these packages are discounted $50 for course participants who purchase their package after enrolling in the course and prior to the conclusion of the course on June 5, 2015. Private session packages include unlimited e-mail support during the course.  Without a package, Sharon regrets that she is not able to answer individual e-mail inquiries regarding the course materials.


CEU Credits for Yoga Instructors/Yoga Alliance

There are 15 CEU credits available for yoga instructors who enroll in this course, complete an application (available in the student resource section of the online course), submit evidence of participation as requested on the application and pay $20 for application review and CEU credit certificate.  Signed certificates for use with Yoga Alliance are provided as PDF files only.  If you wish to have a hard copy of your certificate you can print it out from the PDF file.  Yoga Alliance requires the digital PDF file only.  Yoga instructors who are interested in CEU credits are encouraged to view the application immediately upon enrollment so that they are aware of the evidence of participation required for CEU credits.

Student Safety and Course Policies

Yoga and meditation are generally safe practices.  If you are under a physician or therapist’s care or have any questions about whether or not yoga or meditation are safe for you personally, you are encouraged to inform them of your intention to take this course and ask if there are any movements or meditation practices that you should avoid.  This course is not designed to offer diagnosis or be a treatment for any illness or disorder.  Please seek appropriate medical care from a qualified provider if you need it.  If you are not entirely comfortable, physically, emotionally or spiritually with any of the practices suggested or offered, please stop practicing immediately.  Only participate in yoga, breathing and meditation practices that are completely comfortable and safe for you personally.

Anything that you post on the discussion boards or during a webinar or teleconference should be considered public.  If you have a private session package with Sharon, the sessions and all e-mail communication are completely confidential and will not be shared without your explicit permission.

This course is intended for adults 18-years of age or older.  No experience with yoga or meditation or Eastern philosophy is required or assumed.

No refunds for any reason.

Participants who choose a payment plan must make all payments regardless of actual participation.

Graduation and CEU credit certificates are not guaranteed and participants must meet all requirements before certificates are provided.

All communication on discussion boards, in webinars and teleseminars is to be conducted with the highest level of kindness and respect.  Participants who engage in disrespectful, argumentative or aggressive communication will be removed from the course without refund.  Every participant should feel comfortable expressing their individual and unique ideas, experiences, questions and opinions without risk.  We all benefit from diversity and a dynamic learning community.  If you read something that upsets you, please contact the instructor personally and do not post a public response so we can decide together how best to move forward.
