CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Matrika Flow: Lose weight, strengthen your core, get better balance and circulation, improve joint health and promote a pain free back. These are all-levels flowing style Hatha yoga classes. Classes emphasize sun salutations and variations on sun salutations including the addition of lunges, warrior poses, half moon, triangle and twists. Beginners are welcome! It takes about 4-weeks to get a real feel for this kind of practice, so be patient—it’s worth it.
Mindful Flow: Release tension from muscles, bones and organs of the body through active stretching. Increase flexibility and strength as you create a moving meditation with your practice. Improved circulation (no more cold hands!), heart health and supportive of hormone balance and blood sugar balancing. Emphasis is on meditation, moving with the breath and finding something sweet in every pose! Beginners are welcome.
Honey Flow: The sweetest mix of yin yoga to deeply stretch and release tension in connective tissues and the joints and warm vinyasa flow to strengthen and tone the body. You will increase flexibility, create ease through your joints and love the way you feel honey sweet after class. All levels are welcome to these creative classes. Oh yes—you CAN have your cake and eat it too!
Yoga 2/3: Explore a more advanced practice at Yoga Matrika. These classes are intended for students with a minimum of 3-months of experience taking yoga classes regularly. Elsie offers instruction in the style of Anusara yoga and Julika is offering a rigorous ashtanga/vinyasa class. While all levels are welcome, you should expect a quicker pace, inversions, arm balancing and a bit of sweat too. Focus, release tension, build core strength and tone the entire body. YUMMY OM!
Yoga Foundations: Yoga Foundations classes provide a complete yoga class experience at a slower-pace and with more verbal instruction and guidance from the instructor than you will find in a regular flow class. Great for beginners, these classes will also appeal to anyone who wants a stress-free yoga class experience. You will strengthen and tone the body, release stress and learn yoga philosophy. Modifications can be provided to students who would like more challenging options or for students who are recovering from injuries or need more gentle options.
Body & Mind: This is a one-hour meditation class that starts with gentle stretching and movements to prepare for seated meditation. We practice pranayama (breathing exercises) together. Instruction is in various meditation techniques and guided visualizations for deep relaxation. Asana practice is restorative and the emphasis is on stress relief and creating an open and flexible body. Movements are very gentle and these classes are appropriate for all levels. Easily modified for adults who need to sit in a chair (chairs provided). These classes are also perfect for pregnant and postnatal women.
Pilates Mat Classes: This is a one-hour pilates mat class. Tone the body as you strengthen your core. Relieves back pain and improves flexibility.

Mom and Baby Fitness: This is a gentle, postnatal appropriate class for moms and babies up to one year of age together. Amy Kreger-Boynton has created this combination class of yoga and pilates to help new moms get fit, relax and stay energized. Babies have a good time too! Mom and Baby Yoga: This is a gentle, postnatal appropriate class for moms and babies up to one year of age together. Depending on how everyone is feeling, we do some yoga for babies and some for moms and some to practice together. New Baby Yoga: This is a class for moms with infants less than 6-months old. Moms will learn yoga and touch techniques to help calm baby. Babies love to do yoga and spend this special quiet time with mommy. As time and babies allow, we will also do some relaxation with mom in the form of shoulder stretches, exercises to soothe stressed mammas, and to start to bring tone to the breathing muscles and pelvic floor. Lots of fun for moms and new babies together!
