Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.

Use our convenient WEB SCHEDULER to see this week’s schedule of classes open to drop-in students, pay for class online with a credit card and enroll in classes.
SCHEDULE & REGISTRATION
- Our classes are “drop-in” classes. This means that the schedule is ongoing and you can start at any time. Registration is not required.
- If you are coming to the studio for the first time and intend to pay with a GROUPON or other printed deal, then you will not be able to enroll online. Please arrive 15-minutes early so that you can fill out a waiver and find a space.
- The schedule is not guaranteed. Sometimes, due to instructor illness or weather, we need to cancel classes without notice. We suggest checking the online schedule weekly or before you drop-in just to be sure everything is running as expected.
SERIES, WORKSHOPS & TRAININGS
- Please pay for class online with a credit card before you come to the studio.
- Tuition information HERE.
- Membership information here.
- At the studio, we are NOT ABLE TO MAKE CHANGE. We do not keep cash at the studio. Please bring exact cash or a personal check.
WHAT TO: WEAR, BRING, KNOW
- Please wear modest, comfortable clothing that you can sit and lie on the floor in comfortably while stretching and bending.
- Bare feet only in the studio. You can bring socks in with you to put on during final resting poses if you get chilly.
- Bring your own mat, a hand towel if you tend to sweat (our studio is NOT heated) and a bottle of water
- Leave your valuables at home. Please remove your watch before practice. It is good yoga etiquette to be clean when you come to class and avoid using any perfumed products (including essential oils) as many people are sensitive to scents and odors.
- With the exception of Mom & Baby classes, late students are not admitted. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin.
CLASS STYLES & LEVELS
- Instructors teach from their unique training and experience. If you do not like one instructor, try another class. Not every instructor or style is for every student and this is precisely why we offer a variety of classes.
- None of our classes are power flow or vinyasa flow and our studio is not heated.
- Our most gentle classes are labeled RESTORATIVE or MINDFUL YOGA
- Our most physically challenging classes are labeled ASHTANGA or MATRIKA FLOW
- The best class for you is the class you will actually attend. Find what works with your lifestyle.
Who can do yoga?
There is a very easy test that you can do to see if you are eligible for yoga classes at Yoga Matrika. If you can honestly answer “yes” to the following two questions, then you are ready for yoga:
1) Do you have a body?
2) Are you breathing?
You do not need to be flexible, a hippie, any particular gender, be balanced, eating a particular diet or practicing a particular religion. We welcome everyone and anyone to enjoy the full benefits of yoga. You will be delighted to find that we are a community of regular people, with regular jobs and regular bodies. Most of us have a very good sense of humor and are great dancers. Join us!
What happens in a yoga class? What if I can’t do it?
You will come to the studio, sign into your class and get settled on your mat. Students usually chat before class or take an opportunity to sit or lie on their mats quietly before class starts. The instructor will welcome the class, ask for any special requests or if anyone has any questions and then you will start a warm-up—breathing, stretching and gentle movements. Instructors will provide verbal instructions and some demonstrations to guide you through movements, stretches and breathing exercises. Sometimes, instructors will provide physical adjustments. If you would prefer not to be touched, just let our instructor know. These adjustments are not a criticism, it just means that the instructor would like to help you come into a more comfortable alignment or deepen the pose. At the end of the class, you will lie in Savasana (Corpse Pose)—-lying on your back and just resting. No one is on display and the class is fun and non-competitive. Most students, even those who can’t see their toes never mind touch them, are delighted to find that they can do much more than they thought. All students have a great time and we laugh and enjoy the experience together. After class, you will feel taller, lighter and have a wonderful tone and energy. I personally guarantee that you CAN do it.
Refund Policy
NO REFUNDS for ANY REASON. All payments made to Yoga Matrika for any program: classes, workshops, advanced training tuition, private lessons, events are non-refundable for any reason.
There are no make-up classes for missed classes in a series.
Some training programs will permit an account credit for canceled registrations after an administrative fee is taken out of the paid amount. You should receive information about these policies upon registration.
If Yoga Matrika cancels a class or workshop due to weather or an instructor’s personal emergency, a make-up date will be set or compensation in the form of account credit will be provided.
